It was a no-brainer when our friends at Los Angeles Music Academy College of Music asked us to help spread the word about an auction benefitting the school’s charity, the Los Angeles chapter of Guitars Not Guns.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Guitars Not Guns, a non-profit organization providing free guitars and lessons to foster children, at-risk youth and other deserving children. The program is a positive influence in children’s lives with a mission of diverting the kids away from the destructive influences of violence, gangs, drugs and alcohol. A note from the an excited charity rep:
Paul Carbonara was kind enough to donate his special Les Paul Studio Lite guitar. Plus, the Blondie band was gracious enough to autograph this guitar to help us raise money for our childrens charity!
A little back-story on the item up for bid, from guitarist Carbonara:
This Les Paul started out as a blue Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite. I liked the weight and the sound, but it was super ugly. I wanted to make it look like a black standard. I stripped the finish and routed a binding channel on the top and installed a binding. Then I refinished it in black lacquer with about 15 coats of clear. The guitar has been all over the world with Blondie. It did a couple of US tours and has been to Europe, Asia, Israel, Australia and Russia. It is still very playable, but has lots of road rash. I hope it finds a nice new home.
The auction closes Sunday so get your bid in before its too late.
