Can I Change my Facebook URL?

We are asked this simple question quite often. The answer for pages is NO. Once you have set a “vanity” URL it can’t be changed or transferred. The answer for your Facebook profile is YES*. The asterisk is telling you there’s a catch…you can only change your account profile URL once. One time. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Account dropdown menu at the top right corner of Facebook and choose Account Settings.
  2. Click the Edit link next to Username.
  3. Type your new username in the open field and click Save Changes.

If you have a Facebook page, and have not yet set your username, take a few minutes to do so here: http://facebook.com/username.

Maybe someday, changing URLs will be an option, but for now, Facebook’s settings mean you have to be sure that the URL you choose is the one you absolutely want — goes without saying, make sure it’s spelled correctly.

You might be wondering about the page title as well…can you change that? Yes, but only if the page currently has under 100 likes.

Happy Facebooking!

      3) Type your new username in the open field and click Save Changes.
