We’re helping our friends at Blue September turn the luxurious Fairmont Hotel‘s lights blue to raise awareness for prostate cancer during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. If you are in San Francisco, snap a photo and show your support — you can use #GetBlue2012 in your tweet(s) and if you’d like to RSVP for the “Blue Tie” reception, send an email to me at dan at tellemgrodypr dot com.
When: Thursday, September 20, “Blue Tie” Reception, 6:30 – 9 p.m.
Where: Fairmont Hotel, 950 Mason Street, Crown Room
Reception attendees show their support with blue ties and blue face paint. More than 240,000 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 33,000 died from the disease in 2011. One new case occurs every two minutes and a man dies from prostate cancer every 15 minutes. Speakers will discuss why men are resistant to testing and how we can work to solve that problem. Geoff Burton, Blue September’s International Spokesperson, Patrick Swift, MD, Alta Bates, Radiation Oncologist, Julie Kruegger, California Walnuts and Dan Stein and others with the Oakland Raiders organization will be in attendance.
