ABC Interviews Food Issues Group About Foster Farms Outbreak

Jeff Nelken, M.A., RD, an experienced professional in all aspects of food safety and inspection and our 10-year partner in the Food Issues Group, is a media favorite when it comes to food safety interviews.

Just last week he was interviewed on KABC-TV about the Foster Farms salmonella outbreak which has sickened nearly 300 people in 18 states and hospitalized about 140 people. So please be careful about what you consume and how you prepare it! Jeff gave us a few quick tips for chicken safety:

1) Never wash raw chicken which can splash salmonella everywhere

2) Cook to 165 degrees and; 

3) Store on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator
