Adult students of all ages will enjoy a day of golf, complete with trophies and a luncheon. The entire event is unwritten by Dick Gilchrist, an active volunteer with Braille Institute who lives with vision loss due to macular degeneration, and other members of the Country Club. The golfers range from those with total blindness to others with limited vision. Some have never golfed before. Each golfer will be paired with a sighted guide throughout the event. The event coincides with the LPGA ANA Inspiration Tour in town at the same time.
Braille Institute is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate barriers to a fulfilling life caused by blindness and severe sight loss. Located in Rancho Mirage, the center provides service throughout Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial counties. Through educational training, programs and services, Braille Institute helps tens of thousands of people each year regain and maintain their independence. Thanks to generous donations, Braille Institute services are available free of charge.
