Body Fine Art – Body Painting Competition

About: Body Fine Art’s first annual body painting and photography competition took place on May 16, 2015 at The Springs LA. The Body Fine Art Competition raises awareness for an emerging and fast-growing art form – the second oldest visual art in the world. Thirty artists from around the world competed.
Assignment: TGPR had ten weeks to launch and promote a PR campaign to help raise awareness and drive ticket sales for an event that was the first of its kind that took place on the West Coast. TGPR also managed the social media presence and community building for Body Fine Art. Extra time was needed to educate media (e.g.: art, not nudity); there was limited advertising and marketing support. TGPR wrote and distributed two press releases (one to announce, one with further artist and judge detail) with phone follow-ups, and sent a media invite week of event.
Key Accomplishments: An alternative, diverse, delighted sell out crowd of 800 20-to-50 somethings enjoyed delicious food and drinks in the Downtown Arts District while DJs set the mood for the competition’s theme, “Sacred Body.” Guests took hundreds of photos while exploring the body painting workstations of 20 artists who spent endless hours preparing models. The grand prize: $5,000; one of the largest offered in the body painting circuit. TGPR secured more than 30 local event listings and over 15 feature articles including print, online and TV; multiple LA Weekly features and video profile on website, FOX-Good Day LA morning segment, Los Angeles Daily News, Time Out LA, MSN.com, Arts Beat LA, EFE News Service, Lá Opinion, Downtown LA News, GSNTV’s Skin Wars, Make Up Artist Magazine, Our Weekly and more.
